Entertainment / Movies / Plays / Music / Etc. Empty
PostSubject: Entertainment / Movies / Plays / Music / Etc.   Entertainment / Movies / Plays / Music / Etc. EmptySat Sep 19, 2009 11:38 pm

I decided to put this in Entertainment instead of Outdoors or Travel, because to me - - this is truly my form of entertainment!

One of my favorite things to do is hike Mount Mohonk in New Paltz, NY. The trail I climb is a rock scrambling route called the Labrynth. It is about a 1500 ft high ascent and takes about 3 hours to the top. It is almost all rocks and in some places kind of scary. The climax of the hike is called the Lemon Squeeze and includes a 70 foot vertical ascent up a wooden ladder where, at the top, you will find a tiny opening. This outlet to the top is so small that you cannot fit through with a backpack...hence the name -- Lemon Squeeze!

The beauty of this place is spectacular. At the top you get to rest and view the amazing panoramic scenery of trees. I always go in October so I can enjoy the autumn leaves in full blaze. It's kind of a reward for making it through the scramble. I have always gone with a group of women from my church and we eat lunch in this place at the top. After lunch...there is a short distance more upward, before the descent along a nicely paved trail (no rocks scrambling on the way down).

I love this hike and recommend it to those of you who like a little adventure and a little challenge. Let me know if you want to know more about it. By the way...it is on the property of a very upscale hotel. The rooms start at around $400 + per night. I skip the overnight stay and only pay the $12 to hike - LOL!

An epic action film takes place in China 208 AD. At least the trailer makes it look interesting

I hope since Jackie Chan is in this one, that the martial arts will be better than the first one! I know the story in Karate Kid is a timeless one, but having good martial arts shown will be an added plus for viewers. Keep us posted...do you know when it will be out? Hey did you see the movie Red Cliff? Is that one out? I have not kept up with the movies scene very well.

My SiGung is going to be doing a big demonstration at the opening of this film, somewhere in PA. That is very exciting for their school and it will be great entertainment for those who attend the live show.

In case you are interested...SiGung Norman Smith is the Master of the Kung Fu that my Sifu (Louis Diaz) has passed on to me. SiGung trained out in California back in the 70's with Ark Yuey Wong, who was a contemporary of Bruce Lee.

On Saturday in class Sifu mentioned "the way back machine" but we couldn't remember Mr. Peabodies boy assistant.

On last nights Jeopardy under the catagoriy "Misters" the clue was "This Mr and his pet boy Sherman used to use the Way Back Machine" (paraphrased)

THANK YOU. It was driving me crazy. Quite fascinating that this question would come up on Jeopardy in such a timely way - right after our discussion on Saturday. Too funny!
